My son unboxed a Gucci sweater. He looked happy and kind of shocked. I've obviously heard of Gucci and assumed it was maybe a $500 sweater.

I didn't say anything at all about this hoodie while the kids were around. Literally nothing. After all the kids were in bed, people started discussing this sweater and the fact that it costs $2500. I didn't believe it. Someone showed me it online. Yep, $2500. I laughed and said "that's the dumbest thing I've ever seen".

Come on. I can't be the only one who thinks spending that much on a sweater is just...well, the dumbest thing you've ever heard of. Aitah

gumballbubbles Who gave him a $2500 Gucci sweater? That is a ridiculous gift.

Enoughaulty OP A wealthy family member. They often give very expensive gifts but they've never been so absurdly dumb like this

GunnerMcGrath Does any teenage boy WANT a $2500 sweater? Wouldn't he prefer a gaming PC or a high end guitar or whatever?
  • 12
Traditional-Hat-952 That sweater is going to be toast in a few years. Most teenagers do not treat their clothes well.

Bellis 1985 Lol good luck getting it back from his first girlfriend

Quinzelette F I'm almost 30 and somehow I still manage to snag clothes on some sort of nail or door frame or a hook on my purse. Man a few months ago I went out to get Mexican food with my daughter and the taquito a bit into literally spewed grease out the other end and left grease stains on my top that didn't come out in the wash. I'd like to think I treat my clothes "well enough". I definitely have pieces that survived unscathed for 5-7 years but my favorite pieces that I wear weekly are defin

sampleofanother teenagers are usually materialistic. expensive clothes equals social credit in a lot of society. i went through a slight phase where i cared about name brands and expensive shoes. i only ever bought a couple things $100-300. but peers complimented me a lot. i grew out of it and now i wear brandless clothes or band merch mostly, but i can attest that yeah teenage boys like expensive clothes

degenerate-titlicker Man with such wealth he could really give cool sh and instead he gives the same sh grandma knits every year only inflated by 500000% for having a name on it. Such a waste.

MasterpieceEast6226 NTA. I'd ask my child is he wants to sell it and have 2000$ instead. Pretty sure all of them would say yes.

NeedNameGenerator I doubt someone who wears 2500 dollar sweaters would buy one used just to save 500 bucks. But who knows.

z00k33per0304 I work at a dry cleaner and the amount of people I have coming in with Gucci, off white, burberry, Balenciaga, etc drives me up the frikking wall. And every single one of them hands it out then pulls it back and says it's veeeery expensive like that changes how I'm going to clean it. Dude, it's a 100% cotton t shirt I could get at wal Mart. You got suckered into paying a premium for the fuzzy lettering that looks goofy..congrats. I always tell them (people that have "expensive" sui

A woman came in once for our seamstress absolutely beside herself livid because she'd ordered some god awfully priced Michael kors coat and had to return the first one because the zipper broke and the one she brought in (the replacement) was sewn with the inside of the sleeve twisted so she couldn't even get her hand through and they wouldn't send her another replacement. So refund the thing and buy a reasonably priced coat that works!! But it wouldn't have the gold MK on it so lifts nose in the

gift. You acted like an a_h_le, and made clear to everyone around you that you are ride, entitled, disrespectful, and that they should refrain from doing anything nice for you or your children as you are unappreciative and disdainful. It's just such grace and decorum. behavior. A complete absence of

Mama_andCubCo I think this is an instance where the family member wasn't trying to flaunt his/her wealth. Perhaps he/she genuinely believed it was a nice gesture. When you're that wealthy, number signs don't really matter. What you consider a dumb gift, perhaps they were being kind and thoughtful. Maybe your child mentioned wanting something like that to them, or maybe they were just guessing. Nonetheless, it was a bit ride to call it "dumb" but we are all entitled to our emotions. Idk, I think
